Siemens has secured a landmark contract to establish a state-of-the-art factory in Suez, Egypt, dedicated to producing green ammonia. With a daily production capacity of 1,000 tons and a total investment of $1 billion, this project will strengthen Egypt's position in the global green energy market.
A Major Step in Green Energy
This project is part of a broader initiative encompassing 61 large-scale investments, totaling over $215 billion. It reflects Egypt’s growing dedication to sustainable energy production and environmental innovation.

Competitive Advantage in Pricing
Green ammonia will be exported from Egypt at a competitive rate of $882 per ton, well below the global market price of $1,400. Egypt’s pricing also beats that of conventional ammonia, which costs $710 per ton, giving the country a significant edge in the international market.
High Production Capacity
The factory is expected to produce 365,000 tons of green ammonia annually, with a projected market value of $322 million. The entire output will be earmarked for export, driving Egypt's export revenues. Additionally, ships passing through the Suez Canal will have access to this eco-friendly fuel.
Leading the Future of Sustainable Energy
Green ammonia is produced from green hydrogen and nitrogen, releasing zero carbon dioxide during combustion, making it a key component in the green energy revolution. It also has significant uses in producing eco-friendly fertilizers, contributing to a sustainable future.
Powered by Renewable Energy
The project will harness 1,150 megawatt-hours of renewable wind and solar energy, showcasing Egypt’s commitment to using clean energy sources.
A Strategic Investment for Egypt
While the initial financial outlay is substantial, the long-term potential for returns is strong. Egypt's unique ability to produce green ammonia at such a competitive price positions the nation as a leader in the regional green energy market. This project will play a crucial role in reducing the country's carbon footprint while boosting economic growth through innovative sustainable practices.

This strategic investment is a significant leap forward as Egypt solidifies its place as a key player in global green ammonia production. Keep following us for more updates on Egypt’s journey towards a greener future.
