Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, recently met with representatives from major mining companies, including Canadian Lotus Gold, Capital Drill, and Amun-Ra for Mines and Quarries. The meeting focused on their current activities in Egypt, future plans, and strategies to improve the investment climate in the mining sector. Geologist Yasser Ramadan, Chairman of the Mineral Resources Authority, and Eng. Alaa Hajar, Undersecretary of the Ministry for the Technical Office, were also in attendance.

Minister Badawi underscored the ministry's dedication to creating a favorable investment environment for the mining industry. He highlighted the government's collaborative approach and efforts to address challenges and provide appealing investment opportunities, a commitment reinforced by the recent Egypt Mining Forum, which saw strong governmental and ministerial support.

In discussions with Eng. Marwan Mahmoud, Executive Director of Amun-Ra, and the Canadian Lotus Gold delegation—comprising CEO Mike Silver, President Omar Abdel Nasser, and CFO Walid Gad—the focus was on the company's exploration and research activities in Egypt. Lotus Gold is concentrating on gold exploration in the Eastern Desert, particularly in the Wadi Zaidoun, Umm Samra, Sqadid, and Umm Salim areas. The company expressed appreciation for the government's support and confidence in the region's potential for significant gold discoveries.
The meeting with Capital Drill’s delegation—Chairman Jamie Poeton, Executive Director Brian Road, and President Khaled Murtaji—revolved around their drilling activities at various gold mining sites, including the Sukkari Gold Mine. Capital Drill also showcased their technological advancements, particularly the MSA LABS plant in Marsa Alam, which provides essential inspection and testing services for gold ore and mineral samples.

Overall, the meetings highlighted the collaborative efforts between the government and mining companies to enhance Egypt’s mining sector and attract new investments.
