Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Hails Amun-Ra Company as a Model for Advanced Mining Investment During Visit

Engineer Karim Badawy, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, emphasized the pivotal role of Amun-Ra Company's Iron ore and phosphate mines as exemplary models of successful mining investment. His recent inspection of the Amun-Ra mines in the desert highlighted the commitment to enhancing production through advanced technologies and efficient exploration methods. Badawy underscored the importance of these efforts in extending the mine's operational lifespan and driving further success in the mining sector.







During the tour, Badawy was briefed on various aspects of the mine's operations, including business exploration, management practices, and the integration of modern talents. He noted the progress made in sustainable business practices, community engagement, and women's involvement in the workforce. The presence of 61 women across production and administrative roles was particularly praised, reflecting a commitment to gender equality and the recognition of women's contributions to the industry.





Badawy also acknowledged the broader impact of these initiatives on Egypt's national economy, including the potential for increased investments and innovations in the mining sector. The ministry's efforts to overcome challenges and support continued growth were highlighted as key factors in achieving these goals.





In discussions with workers, engineers, geologists, and technicians, Badawy commended their dedication to safety, environmental protection, and operational efficiency. He stressed the importance of maintaining high standards in these areas to ensure sustainable and responsible mining practices.




Martin Horgan, CEO of Centamin, shared insights on their efforts to enhance the value of production from the Sukari mine, which has gained global recognition for its performance and the role of a diverse workforce, including women. Horgan expressed confidence in Egypt's mining capabilities and the potential for further success through partnerships like the one with Centamin.




Accountant Mohamed Mahmoud, Chairman of Sukari Gold Production Company, provided an update on the Sukari mine, noting its significant contributions to the economy since it began gold production in 2010. The mine's use of modern technologies and strategic investments demonstrates a model of efficiency and growth, with ongoing efforts to boost production while managing costs effectively.
